I Had A Call Yesterday With A Mortgage Broker
“Get an employment agreement, or a contract gig that states the exact amount, like say $60 per hour and the amount of hours per week”
I had a call yesterday with a mortgage broker.
There’s a build I want to pursue and we brainstormed how I can bring it to life.
The broker was an awesome dude, he came up with multiple options and he shared that the quickest option for me to pursue this project was to:
“Get an employment agreement, or a contract gig that states the exact amount, like say $60 per hour and the amount of hours per week” this will be easy to take to the bank for extra leverage.
(Banks don’t love self employed folks/business owners (especially single ones) - they love people with employment agreements and ‘consistent salaries’)
I said to him “why can’t I just make an extra 20-30k over the next couple of months and we use that?”
He said that was harder to use as it would be in my 2026 financials.
I hate systems.
I hate banks.
I hate rules.
I’ve been concussed for the last few years and it’s really messed with my bandwidth and capacity to work.
I said “I just wanna let you know that contract work, an employment agreement or anything of that nature is not something I’m willing to do.”
He laughed and said “I totally get it.”
It may seem closed minded because it would be the fastest way to work the system in order to get what I want but I always try and do what is true and most aligned with my values even if it leaves me worse off financially or things end up taking longer.
One of my deepest values is…
Freedom.
I will do whatever it takes to never need to work for another human again, even if it’s just to get an agreement for a bank.
Another value is authenticity.
I’d be inauthentic by wasting someones time, taking on a contract role or organising getting an employment agreement that I know I wouldn’t fulfil.
Another one is honesty/integrity.
See above 🤭
My inner critic tells me I am dramatic, egotistical, stubborn and… maybe I am
but…
I haven’t been employed or contracted to anyone for 7.5 years and I don’t plan on doing it now.
Moral of this share?
There is more than one way to skin a cat (this saying is v creepy 🙀)
Everything is figure-outable (as Marie Forleo says)
If it’s meant to work out, it’ll work out.
I’ll be divinely guided.
Something will show up.
So far, in my life, anything that has really been meant for me, has not missed me.
I did a podcast about how my first home purchase came about, you can listen to it below.
So…
Here’s to life in complete and utter alignment with your values, whilst letting go of HOW you’re going to get to where you wanna go.
It requires faith in the invisible.
It’s a real flex that most don’t adhere to.
It’s not for the faint of heart.
It’s not the easy road.
But it’s the most fulfilling and meaningful way, even if it creates frustration, roadblocks, self doubt and temporary financial distress.
P.S. - My last launch of 2025 is happening right now and doors close this Sunday, 15th June @ 11:59pm NZT.
I created The Messy Action Skool Community so creative, highly sensitive and intuitive women in business could find their people, share authentically and show up from a place of honesty, authenticity and ease.
Less pressure, more ease.
Less obligation, more messy action.
Less expectation, more doing and being.
If you’re done with masterminds, online coaching programs and coaches that don’t align with your values or care to know who you are and how you’re feeling - this is the community for you.
It’s $2,500 USD for 6 months (2 calls per month) and has hundreds of hours of course material and homework that will help you get to know yourself on a deeper and more aligned level.
Flexible payment plans are available.
If you’re curious or have been on the fence, book a discovery call with me or reply to this email
