Imposter syndrome is not a real condition đŸ€«

A dm I received from someone re tomorrow nights event 💌

Imposter syndrome, what is it and why do we experience it?

In all of my workshops, challenges, trainings and programs imposter syndrome cannot exist.

Why?

I’ll get to that soon. First, let’s dive in.

Imposter syndrome is defined as

The way in which one would suffer from imposter syndrome is two fold

Firstly, if they were constantly doubting whether they were enough and constantly judging themselves from a place of self hatred and ridicule. If this is the case, an analysis on your parents and the way in which you were raised is up for some observation.

Also, trying to be productive, creative and inspired when you’re defaulting to self hatred is really really difficult. It’s like putting your foot on the gas when there is no fuel in your engine.

Second, if you’re actually in a freeze response and in deep avoidance which in turn, stops you from starting, stops you finishing what you start, stops you from trying because of the fear of failing. It also stops you from persevering because “what’s the point”. It can have you feeling an overall sense of defeat about life. If this is the case, an analysis on your parents and the way in which you were raised is up for some observation and also an inventory check on events past.

Was there a lot of grief?

A breakup?

Divorce?

Illness?

Traumatic incident.

A black swan event? Ahem C*VID.

In any case, what I’m trying to say here is imposter syndrome is not a real condition.

It’s conditioning.

Imposter syndrome can only exist when we’ve got a dysregulated nervous system and a skewed sense of self.

You are not lazy.

You are not going to f*ck it up.

You are not a procrastinator.

It is worth doing.

It is worth persevering through.

It is worth loving yourself for.

In my Monday newsletter I wrote:

The quality of your life is determined by how much action you take

How much action you take is determined by how distracted you are.

How distracted you are is determined by what you’re avoiding

What you’re avoiding is determined by what you’re afraid of.

What you’re afraid of is determined by how dysregulated you are

Your dysregulated nervous system is determined by how much trauma you’ve experienced and how often you actually feel your emotions.

You can coin imposter syndrome up to the latter.

It can’t exist when we’re taking action in the present.

Let’s take that most aligned next step toward greater self confidence, self compassion and self realisation, together.

I’ll see you tomorrow, Thursday, Aug 29th @ 6:30pm.
